I started my first blog after being inspired by the Kyle Macdonald experiment in 2005. Over the course of a year he traded his way from a single red paper clip to a 2 story house. If you haven't read about this before, check out the one red paperclip website.
I decided to attempt a similar project after reading about an urban legend involving the Ford motor company giving away a new car for a copper 1943 penny.
If you haven't heard about this before I wouldn't be surprised, this is a more obscure myth. During 1943 pennies were made of steel due to WWII, but a few (17 known) pennies were released that year which were copper. Legend told that if you took a copper penny to a Ford dealership that you would be rewarded with a new car. Due to this myth, Ford had to make a public announcement to debunk the rumors back in 2000.
In actuality, the copper penny would be worth more than a new car. Known 1943 copper pennies have sold for $10,000-$80,000. Needless to say, this is a heavily counterfeited coin.
Anyways, I started a website
www.acarforapenny.com
Thought some of you might want to check it out.
Looking for any traders to get the ball rolling.
Thanks, Ryan.
