Ok guys here is the question.

Scenerio: 1992 VX. I have a D15Z1 with a D16Z6 tranny.

1. Now that I have this stronger tranny will I be able to redline higher or is my rev limitor still going to hit @ 6000 rpms? Or can i redline like the d16z6 @ 7200 rpms?

2. I want new reveser gauges for my hatch, they dont make them for the VX model so I have to get the EX/Si gaues. So........Do I need to get a whole new EX/Si cluster for my VX so the spedometer reads right?

tranny has no effect on redline. you need to keep the z1 redline. i belive the gauge cluster is pretty similar, but the redlines may be different.

thats my 5th gen ex cluster, if yours looks like that, then the ex/si gauges will work on yours.

With the better geared tranny acceleration will improve but your redline is limited by your Engine and ECU. Gas mileage might go down a little bit too....

I highly recomend getting the EX/Si tranny if you have a VX. the gearing is just so much different that it makes all the difference in the world. I dont have to downshift so much anymore =) Im sure you know what im talkin bout

get the S20 (si tranny).. i had my stock EX tranny go out on me a few months ago.. bought the SI tranny along with LSD... s**t, the gears are short and beautiful.. the LSD is a nice performance add on for anyone.. not only when racing, but during the icy winter when ur wheels spin just because u have a 6 puck clutch in it... you dont jerk to the side when one wheel loses traction.. goes straight.. but yea.. if ur gonna be searching for trannies, get the S20 (si tranny).. the ex tranny is decent.. but its worth the extra 30 bucks or so for the Si one...

ALSO.. take notice that if you DO get an Si tranny, you will reach redline ALOT FASTER than your VX tranny does.. make sure u use that shift light or look at your tach, or else you may blow your engine faster than you know it... just a lil piece of advice, cause i dont want anyone being screwed over..
