ac only works when it wants to

when my ac doesnt work everything lights up the fan blows but when i look under the hood at the thing that is saposto spin all the way to the right.. it doesnt spin.. but when my ac does work for the other half of the time it works fine and get cold.. please help its a 92 civic

ok well i just took the relay out and there is like lube or somthin inside on the connectors is that normal.. also the wires have a lot of greese on them is there somthing i can clean it with

ok so today my ac wasnt workin and i switched the relays around and it still wasnt workin.. then i swithed them around again and it started working

could it be the actually ac button going bad?? or my ecu or what else

compressor could be goin out, thats what happend to mine, i need a compressor and a belt lol

The grease is of a white color I assume. That would be dielectric grease and its fine. If it is grime then go to your local parts store and get electrical spray to clean it out with. i advise against using carb or brake cleaner as it is too abrasive on plastic. You can but electrical cleaner is better.

If you are switching your relays and find that the A/C works with a different relay you have solved your problem. The original relay is at fault.

Relays are notorious for going bad over time because they build corrosion on the contacts and wear out.

Also when the A/C button is applied both fans should be on the entire time. its a default setting.

Another thing you can do is back probe the connector to your compressor clutch. If its getting a continuous ~12.6v and the clutch is kicking off then the compressor clutch is wearing out.

well there is 2 relays one for the clutch and another one next to it.. i switched them and nothing happend same s**t.. it just works really randomly.. it usto only not work rarely but now it just got a lot worse.. i dont think its the relay because it wasnt working and then i swithed them around cuz theres 2 for somthing else a fan i think or somthing and it was the same thing

ok when i pressed the ac button the fan does go on in the front of the car so it cant be a hvac problem right?
