acceleration lag!!!

I got a 96 EJ8, running a D16Y8. Just a couple days ago I noticed even when the gas was pressed all the way down, the car would go, kinda start slowing and bog out as if something was blocking or holding it back from accelerating, then after a few seconds it would bounce back and keep going. Could this have anything to do with a clogged fuel filter, bad tank of gas, letting the gas run too low, or added fuel injector cleaner? Also since this has been happening the idle has been acting up. It'll stay between 900-1000rpms, then at a dead stop (sometimes) it will slowly move down to where the car almost turns off then bounces back up to a normal idle. Don't know whats going on here. Any help is appreciated!!!!

Replace the fuel filter, take pics, and post your results.

doesnt matter if the AC is on or off. it still does the same thing no matter what. I'm getting tired of driving it like this so I'm going to get a fuel filter today like $20 from autozone and just swap it out. Later on when I get the AEM fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator, i'll get the AEM fuel filter.

@smooveCRIMINAL: what was your suggestion involving the AC?

And i just replaced the fuel filter and you can really tell the difference. Running good now.

^^ The A/C leaches power from the drivetrain. Driving with the climate control on will not yield optimal performance results.

well i thought it was all good now but once in awhile still doestht lag. i swapped the plugs yesterday and getting wires today. ima fill up and thro some more fuel injector cleaner in to see how that works. but that idle still drops sometimes and then jumps up and is fine for another good while. and now i am noticing that with the ac on it lags a little more and idles lower.

i had a problem that was like that...i replaced fuel filter, cap and rotor plugs, sea foamed it then it turned out to be a bad spark plug wire i would suggest if you can swap wires with someone just to test rather than buying a new set all the other stuff mentioned isnt that expensive and is worth replacing anyways
