ok well on my xs rfl i untightend it all the way(not knowin what i was doing) and well i unscrewed it all the way so the spring came out.....how tight do i need to tighten it....whats the diff?

put the spring back in and tighten it up? 
When its on the softest setting (screw unscrewed the most it can be before coming off), the most air/pressure is coming out of the BOV, thus making it loudest, but at the same time, it would release all the pressure in your charge piping - which you dont want, you want SOME pressure, just not 7 or so pounds, so I find a happy medium between hardest and softest setting is the best.
