Advice on D16y7 stock exhuast manifold

Hello clubcivic my hatch is throwing a p0420 which means the cat is no good and I can't seem to make up my mind if I should change my exhuast manifold to the d16y8 headers and cat and have to cut and weld a flange for it to connect or just replace it with the same stock unit my dilema is im on a budget so is it really worth changing over to 4-2-1 headers? Is there any slight performance gains? Engine breaths better? Smoother accel??

P.s I know its just a d16y7 but I wouldn't mind Geting the best out of it but then again doesn't hurt to be ready if I ever do a vtec mini me swap

The 6th gen Dx/Hx/Lx/Cx all share that same restrictive exhaust with the cat right off the manifold, this also limits your aftermarket exhaust choices down the road.
I'd swap over to the Ex style header and cat exhaust, opens you up for more upgrades down the road.

The stock 99/00 y8 header is the best performing stock d-series header, it's better then the restrictive one you have now.

Order a D series eBay header along with a spacer for the secondary o2 and an O2 sensor extension harness.

Thatll make your check engine light go away.

Dammnnnn ever since I've installed my headers + catback exhaust system to the back my check engine has been on... I got it diagnosed and it was due to o2 sensors. I replaced both brand new with Bosch o2 sensors. and it never went aay. Could be because I electronically saudered the 2nd o2 sensor with wires to extend the length of the wire to reach my 2nd o2 sensor hole and I think my lkittle invention failed.. ... But all because I didn't know there was an extension I couldv'e bought on ebay for the o2 sensor lolol... Ima go ahead and order one and see if my check engine turns off....... My friend go with the headers + catback exhaust. It's not much of a boost but you feel that little kick when you step on the gas all the way plus that little aggressive tone..... Can't be mad at that

Here buddy I was doing some research and this is what I found on eBay. I ordered this extension for my 02 sensor to turn my check engine light off. If you decide to put new headers + catback exhaust this will be a MUST. I hate that CE light always on knowing my car is in great condition with no real actual problems.
