Last time I changed my dist cap and rotor (3 years ago) my distributor went bad 15 min after while driving. Same thing happened to my friend's civic.

I've replaced the cap and rotor multiple times before without any issues so I don't know what happened last time. Coincidence? Could I have done anything that may have contributed to distributor going bad?

Would like to replace the cap and rotor today as part of maintenance as I've been doing a lot of driving past years.

Please help boost my confidence up again in the area! Lol

Maybe you bought junk? I always buy oem for ignition parts and havent had any issues just make sure the rotor screw is tight

I went through a similar issue with an old civic of mine, but mine was with the cooling system. I kept blowing radiator hoses, and it got so frustrating that I didn't want to do any work on the cooling system of any of my cars, but you got to think, millions of people do these necessary repairs/maintenance every day. It'll all be good man

Well I did it!

I accidentally nicked the plastic of the cap around one of the nuts. It's narrower than the other two and socket dug in a little/made slight groove. Think it'll be fine?

A dist and cap shouldn't be an issue to install, unless you buy junk.... I've never had any issues with OEM stuff
