Received my MOMO hub today...
Issue one: No horn. Searched, found stuff for 5th gen (non-SRS)...
Issue Two: nasty looking gap in the column cover at the 6 o'clock position..
Issue Three: Turn signal cancellation - INOP.. err.. doesn't cancel.. I've already tooked my age by driving a mile or so with the blinker blinkin'!

What f**king gives?
TIA

1) my horn hook up failed me too...even with a wiring diagram :what:

2) I have the same ugly hole...

3) That makes no sense....there is no reason why changin the wheel should effect that...

1.) If I figure it out, I'll let you know, fo sho
2.) Gonna put my dusty custom audio fab skills to work and see what I can come up with.. ;)
3.) yah, that's kinda what I was thinkin...

I removed the airbag, fought that friggin yellow connector, til I realized how easy it actually was to disconnect..

Then took the column trim off, removed the three screws that retained the SRS clockspring..

Tried to figure out how to unplug the two grey wires from the clockspring.. what an ass.. ended up snipping them back, at different lengths, so to ease in reinstallment, should the need arise..
installed the hub @ 12 o'clock.. (now I know I an off by a spline or two... I'll fix that tonight)

placed the horn ring on the adapter, then the steering wheel, fastened it all together... That's when I realized my horn button wont fit inside the MOMO horn ring...

so took the wheel assy back apart, pulled the horn ring out, and put the wheel back on. I'll figure out the horn issue this weekend...

Results..
PROS: Hmm.. steering (manual rack) feels much more precise.. I like the thickness of the new wheel, as well.. feels more positive..
CONS: I sit far enough back, and the new wheel is smaller in diameter, enough that it partially blocks the outer portions of the gauges.. Yeah, that kinda sucks.
Also, the SRS light is on solid (go figure, huh ;) ) so I'll be rectifying that, as well..
Blinker cancel inop.. I'll try to fix this tomorrow..

haha i hear ya, my wheel is SLIGHTLY to the right when i drive and it kills me lol

as far as the SRS light, do what i gotta do: Remove your gauge cluster, remove the 4 screws behind the cluster (tachometer side) and remove the bulb for the SRS light ;)

you have pics by the way? Did you use a QR hub as well?

well, my boy is a machinist.. I've ran it by him.. he may be interested in making a run of a few.. I'll piddle with it all this weekend.. If I come up with another solution, I'll def. let you all know, here.. ;)

As for the SRS light, I had the same issue in my '92 VW Cabriolet and tricked the SRS ecu into thinking it was still connected.. I'll research the Honda and attempt to use my EE degree :P

as far as using your EE degree to fix a light bulb problem.. may i suggest instead using your common sense degree and just pull the light.. lol ;)

it could be fixed during a FE alignment, but ehh...

IIRC, if the light is on (err.. activated), then the pass. side bag will not deploy.. I have passengers once in a great while.. Stupidity (removing a safety device) on my part shouldnt consiquently impose on the passenger's safety..:P ;)

oc - how difficult is it to see the two gauges in the cluster trim, through the steering wheel? I can only imagine it is kinda tight view , no?

I'll direct Eran to this thread when he gets home. He fixed his wheel being crooked. 8) I'm sure he can type a DIY up for you guys.

i thought he had a different problem... like the wheel was facing straight up and the column was tweaked?

:???: Well after his car was broken into, yes kind of. He got his steering column replaced though and the wheel still sat crooked (I think it might have been like that before it was broken into though). The steering column being f**ked was fixed and he fixed the wheel being crooked after he picked it up.

Fixing your wheel is really easy. Take off your horn and take off the 19mm bolt holding your hub on. Get a heavy-duty punch and a meaty hammer. There's a little dot/hole in the center of your steering spindle. Brace your knees up against your wheel and pull back with them. Put the point of the punch in the hole and POUND. Keep whacking it and pulling with your knees until your wheel comes loose. then, go find a level, even straight away (a big parking lot works) and drive in a straight line. Notice where your wheel is pointed when going straight. Adjust. Repeat. Keep doing this till it's about perfect (usually takes 2-3 runs).

thanks eran!
but i tried that.. seems the splines are either left or right.. it can be slightly to the left, and I move it one spline to the right, then it's slightly to the right..
I'll try it again your way..

nah you are right.. the problem you are having is the same as mine.. moving it will not help... i looked at the hub last night.. and it looks like there is enough room to drill more holes.. so i MAY redrill the hub..
