Aftermarket Stereo Helpp!!!!

I am going to take out my factory stereo, and put in an aftermarket one (sony). I was wondering if i take it out, would my factory alarm and keyless entry still work?

Should, don't know why it wouldn't. As long as you do everything correctly and don't start randomly cutting wires, you should be good.

oh okay thanks..but so the factory alarm does not run through the factory stereo?..becuase i talked to this one guy at a honda dealership, and he says the factory alarm MIGHT run through the stereo..but he's not sure either...

No it doesn't run through the stereo. just make sure that when you take out the factory unit you don't seriously mess up the wiring harness. everything should go okay but if it isn't attached to the wiring harness you probably shouldn't touch it

I don't know about the alarm, but if you take out the factory headunit you WILL lose your keyless entry.

The keyless entry runs through the stock headunit, thats why people who have it relocate the old headunit either below the new headunit or they stick it in the glovebox.

for a 99 my keyless entry didn't stop working after i swapped out my head unit. you may wanna check into your info, not tryin to be an ass. just trying to provide correct information. cause i have a 99 and the keyless entry doesn't depend on whether you have a stock head unit or not.

you have to make sure you get the right harness , i heard they mae 2 different harnesses one for keyless and one without

for 96-98's the keyless entry system runs through the stock headunit and removing the stock headunit would disable the keyless entry system.

for the 99's im not sure if this is the case, consult crutchfield.com, theyll get you the correct info
