air compressor forced induction

ok i know i will get flamed for this one
but is it possible to run an air compressor on your intake
instead of a turbo or supercharger
because an air compressor would be running with en electrical system like air bags
know turbo lag and you are not taking power away from the engine like a supercharger does
it would be know problem boosting the same psi as turbo and supercharger

No, you would have to time the compressor somehow with the engine. In other words, you would always have asstons of air so you would either run really lean or get the worst gas milage ever.

besides killing you battery and ruining your altanator and all the finger pointing and besides I dont think you'll get what as much psi unless you hall a big ass one in you car witch would make your car tooo heavy. what made you think of that? <serious question

i was only thinking about the down side of turbo and supercharger
engine management with the compressor would be hard
but what if you had a switch like nitrous
you would hit it when you are traveling fast enough

my bad your right but but that would be a strain on your altanatore and you'd have to regulate the voltage like JCV2000
said how would you time it?

i know it is some what of a dumb question
and i thank you for not making fun of me
but i have thought about this for a long time
but i have never asked people about it
i want to know why it is not possible
if it was then auto makers would have done it already

basically you want to create an electric supercharger. its been tried. it doesnt work. sometime, try this- open your hood, take off your air intake, so the throttle body is open. pull the throttle cable a bit with your hand right near the throttle body opening. theres a hell of a lot of vaccume there, and no air compressor short of a huge industrial one is gonna be able to add any measurable amount of air to that.
