First off ac works blows cold air ,but dont use it cause of this noise.....when i turn ac on ,i get a grindy noise...shut ac off , niose completely goes away...put her in gear with ac on noise gets worse ,but funny sometimes it dosnt make it sometimes..also when i have the ac on and the grind squeaky noise comes up car runs ruff...if the noise goes away with ac on car runs well. Other wise if i just leave the ac off and sweat my balls off....car runs mint ...i love my lil honda...any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Have you inspected the belt? A worn or over-tightened belt will squeal.

I'd start there.

Agreed, belt or pulley/bearing. That was the problem with my noise, just replaced it with a belt and pulley/bearing from a 98 CRV and it went away.

I'm gonna say ac bearing .

to fix this get a new ac compressor .
Whoa whoa whoa there, lets not jump to expensive conclusions like that!
OP, take a video of your car with a camera that has a good quality microphone, it might help with finding the problem. It could be the fan/condenser, compressor, pulley/belt or something else, try looking towards the more wallet-friendly possible solutions.
Is it anything like this OP?

get a long screwdriver. put the flathead end on areas under the hood. (obviously not too close to the belt)

put your ear on the handle side of the screwdriver and u can hear through it.

I wouldn't consider it stupid, if you don't have a mechanics stethoscope (like a doctors own but with a long rod) a long screwdriver helps. I had to use a screwdriver when finding my A/C bearing problem, and it worked. The next day, I took it to my automotive class where we have that mechanics stethoscope, and it proved the screwdriver trick was accurate.

I have a 96' Civic and I to have a noise. I narrowed it down to the ac or a belt. When I'm speeding up or just cruising down the road there is a noise. Sounds like a little bit of grinding/chains rattling and usually happens when the AC is on and off. I think its the AC compressor making the noise(or the AC clutch. Sorry I'm not that great talking cars yet)

I was also having problems with my AC when I stop at red lights and stop signs. It would get really got and my idle would go up and down really bad. Turns out the little fan in from the compressor was broke so it was only working when I was driving. The guy replaced it for cheap and it works perfectly now.
