The only way they'd be easier to bypass is if you did a sloppy install.
Example:
Car - 05 Civic
KARR alarm: Lock, unlock, door/hood/trunk trigger, parking lights, starter kill, 12v constant, ignition, ground
Crimestopper: Lock, unlock, door/hood/trunk trigger, parking lights, starter kill, 12v constant, ignition, ground
Lets say both alarms need to get those wires from the civic. Both alarms have shock sensors. One may be better than the other, but who's to tell because it all depends on what type of neighboorhood/surrounding you live in. Most keyless entry alarms need/have those features. Both alarms are about the same size.
If you knew anything about alarms the would-be car thief would only need to know what the starter wire is in the civic. He would then cut off the starter kill relay, or he could even just pull the harness out from the alarm, and shazam its bypassed.
Now if the installer did a good job of hiding the alarm, like placing the alarm elsewhere other than under the drivers side dash, the would-be thief would need to cut the starter wire, find the power source of the alarm and dis-connect it, then he'd be on his merry way. But by that time, the owner would be on the phone with the police or something.
BigEars, if all you want is the security of knowing your car isnt stolen, I can show you how to make your own starter kill and you can hide the switch yourself in your disclosed location. But if you have a nice stereo or subs... Your going to want the full featured alarm.
io_303, Im not bashing you or anything but the expensive alarms fail too. Ive ripped out many DEI alarms in the short time Ive been installing. OEM alarm systems fail just as much. But thats another story...
