I was planning on buying a 2000 si, but now i do not know if it is worth it or not. Every time I come onto CC, there is always a new post about getting their si stolen. Just wanted some insight if it is worth it or not. Also, what are some of the best alarms/ security precautions to use? Is there is anything you can put on your car that you can guarantee that It wont get stolen?

people have thier own opinions about alarms, mine is for clifford. as for things to help it not get stolen: fuel pump switch (toggle switch to manually turn pump off. no fuel no go). and starter switch (button or switch that needs to be depressed to activate starter when you turn key) someone tries to steal your car, first they have the alarm to get around. then they have to start it, not hearing the engine crank when try to start it can discourage them right there. if they dont care that it doesnt crank and try to push start it (if you have a manual) they wont be going anywhere without fuel. alarm+car sitting in middle of road(from failed push start)=lots of attention drawn to theif. but remember, there is never a guarantee with theft

theres no guaratee it will get stolen but if you protect it good enough, it will less likely get stolen. the last person on the board that got their car stolen didnt have a alarm. i dont understand why people spend so much money investing and putting stuff on a car with no alarm.

the best thing out is probably lo jack, but its very expensive. also i think viper and some other companies have gps but they are still expensive. i suggest getting a good pager alarm like compustar. they have the best range and good features. also getting extra add ons will help protect your car. a alarm is not something to go cheap on.

I have been watching and most of the Si's are being stolen from states like cali, fl and other states that have the majority of the si's that still are alive. Hopefully where I live, my car would be less of a threat. The other thing is , I want to find an Si with under 50k on it and mostly stock. I would rather build up a car than buy one with s**t on it and go along lying to everyone that I put everything into the car. My first car was a honda and I want my second, third, and so on to be a honda but i just dont know if it is worth it to spend the money on a car that one of the most stolen cars? My dad told me that if my car gets stolen, im not getting another one, so I will most likely spend a good amount of cash on the alarm and go from there. Any opinions?, shoot them my way.

1. compustar
2. dei - clifford/viper

make sure u get one with a pager if you get the clifford or viper. with a pager alarm, when your alarm is trigger, it instantly pages you on the pager.

here are some good add on

backup battery siren
mini peizo siren
glass break sensor
proximity sensor
back up battery
make a fuel pump relay
make a door unlock relay

I'd say go with an alarm of your choice, autolock and fuel kill switch. That will be annoying for a theif, but either way, if they want it, they'll take it somehow.

dont go cheap on alarms cuz later you will regret it, my pick is Viper or Clifford pager alarms, I have a Viper vx790 and it works great, just follow some of the advice the other members gave you and you should be in good shape

alarm/kill switch/fuel cut off. i would also probably get 4 diff pattern wheel locks/wheel boot for that matter if u got nice wheels... a motion sensor would be a good add on, but i would prefer a battery backup instead.
