Alpine question

Well this might sound dumb but what is the "ranking" of Alpine subs? I got a friend who wants to sell me two 10" Type E's in a custom ported box with an amp, etc. He said the ranking was S, E, R, X. But the Alpine websites pricing shows that the least expensive is E, then S, R, X... So is it worth it or no? He wants $400 CDN. I would trust Alpine over your friend

I had R's they were very nice!

E's from my memory were lowest.

So E's would'nt even be worth the price he's asking then. As you might be able to tell, I know squat about subs, I just know they pound when they are good and properly set up.

Type S is a shallow mount sub, so while more expensive are pretty similar to type E in performance, type E might even be slightly better. They will sound great in the right box, so as long as he isnt asking too much they are good subs.

What would you consider too much. Check the link. He wants $400 whenever I get the money and can have them put in my car and test them out. Worth it or forget it?

Well I'd be getting 2 10" Type E's, a custom built box, an amp, wires, fuses, and even a deck probably.

2 10" Type E's = $240+tx
A dual box =$200+tx
Sony Xplod amp= $200+tx
Sony deck= $150-200+tx
+ accessories

Total= approx. $750+tx

Only thing is speakers, I would have to buy speakers because my Civic's are all blown out. Guy I bought it off didn't mention that part.

To be honest, i wouldn't get it.

2 sundown e8's would get louder, lower, and sound better than the type e's

they go for about 60 bucks

What's the absolute you're willing to spend?

Well I need a system, all my speakers are blown so I'm running this cheap $20 speaker box from like WalMart and I wanna buy some system but don't wanna spend too much cause I know I'll get over the excessive bass phase quickly. Where can I pick up some of the subs you were talking about?

A system isnt just a subwoofer and amp. If you want it to sound good you'll need a good set of speakers at the front with an amp.

Might be a dumb question, but is Pioneer any good (speaker and sub wise) ??
What are some inexpensive companies (not really looking for brand name, just affordable and good)?

i like pioneer radios... the rest of their stuff is just average to me. my wife has a full pioneer setup in her car. i have all rockford. of course mine sounds better.
