ok so heres the deal guys, my whole build up started because of my auto to manaul conversion, my check engine light has been on because of the 3 wire iacv on the throttle body/manual ecu. so, 2 wednesdays ago, i decided ill try to fix it, the saturday before that i went to a local junkyard because i needed the 2 wire iacv plug ( manual transmission ), i was following this thread, just in case you guys were wondering. http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32971&highlight=minime. i also picked up a manual y8 manifold w/ iacv the week before also. so wednesday started out good, i woke up early and got outside, beautiful day out, everything came off smoothly as i tried to remember where everything went, i also was following this hose diagram ( thanks/props to defayne ). well to make a long story short, after many attempts to get it right, i failed. white smoke was coming out of the exhaust everytime i tried to start it up, and at this point, i was fearing the worst. i was convinced the headgasket was ruined which made me start turning serious wrenches. i unbolted the head and layed it in my garage, then i started taking apart the block, first all the coolant lines were unhooked, then i decided i was gonna do things right. i searched and searched for a manual engine wire harness. the past weekend, the worst thing happened that couldve, i went to advanced auto parts and bought a re-honing tool, because im a huge DIY'er. i found a drill and started on my way. after a few minutes i realized it was looking horrible, so i got worried, i took some pics and posted them on some forums just to get a few opinions. well, overall, i did a horrible job and i was worried i went bigger than stock bore. yesterday, i finally found a little shop that re-hones cylinder walls, i brought it there today and thankfully the guy said i didnt mess it up that bad, so for 50 bucks, im getting it re-honed and de-greased. earlier this week i ordered about $1500 in parts for my car, they should be arriving all next week. the list goes:
1. nippon rings
2. eagle rods
3. magnaflow catback
4. megan racing hi flow cat (had for a while, was waiting for new exhaust)
5. manual P2P ECU
6. 4-2-1 header
7. low miles VTEC head (props to sk8shorty017)
8. new oem headgasket
9. manual engine bay wire harness
10. still looking for a manual TB
11. new set of valve cover bolts
12. re-honed/de-greased block
(ill get pics of each as they arrive)
well i will keep you guys updated all the time cause i do nothing but work, work on my car, and sit on cc. so expect updates a few times a day or so
oh and btw ive done all of this work by myself. i guess thats all i can say for now, enjoy!
OH I forgot to mention...my mom gave me her credit card, thats how i bought everything, shes tired of me messing around with my car she says "here, get whatever you need to get it fixed" haha
