I think I need one, since my cars light dims alot when I turn it up a little bit above "13" on my Alpine. Well, correction i actually HAVE one, i just am not sure how to hook it up. Like we hooked it up to the positive terminal with the amplifier and it has its own ground but now whats weird is, I dont know is it suppose to turn off when the car turns off or what? I shut off the car and it stays on, and the guage jumps around 12.5 volts or so... how do i do this correctly? I murdered my battery today since the car was straight THUMPIN' for a while... haha

the capacitor wont discharge for a bit after you turn the voltage source off. It will take time for the capacitor to discharge especially since it probally somthing huge like 1 farad or 2 farads. Think of the capacitor as a rechargeable battery

i paid about 300 bucks for mine, shipped, and then paid the same for someone to install it... which was crap, but i won't go into that. the next time my alternator had to be taken out, it was 127.

so, yes, it's expensive if you can't do it yourself, and you have to hunt around for something high output for a civic. caps and batteries don't matter if the system that's powering them is too weak. ;)
