how many watts is your amp putting out. from there you pick the amp kit that suits the amount of wattge being produced.

thats the confusing part for me. i don't know how much it is putting out.
"325 Watt Mono Amplifier" from that link
975 max power (on box)
specs
175 W x 1 @ 4 Ohms RMS <-- my sub: Impedance 4 Ohms
325 W x 1 @ 2 Ohms RMS

rockford amps are always understated when it comes to how much power they put out...119.99 dollars for an amp kit?...thats way too much...go down to your local car stereo wholesaler and get an 8 or 4 gauge amp kit for much less than that...or ebay...

yeah 119 is expensive but i'm not paying that price. staff discount from my friends, so i heard they go down about to 50 bucks.

so you're saying doesn't matter how much the kit can handle? 300w, 600w, 1400w, it doesn't matter??

the main part of the kit is the power, the fuse and the ground....if you are looking to upgrade later get the four gauge kit...just make sure your ground is the same gauge as your power...you should probably use a 40 amp fuse up front at the battery...think of the power wire as a water hose...the bigger the hose the more freely the current moves thru it...4 gauge should be perfect for you...

go with the 4 gauge kit....especially if you plan on adding more amps later...

I would go with the four gauge. Its better to have a bigger wire than smaller (no pun intended). Your Amp is putting out 325 watts RMS at 2 OHMS. The 925 watts is measuring peak power. Don't be fooled when people say i got a 5000 watt amp but in translation could mean its only 800 watts RMS.

yesterday i decided to go to futureshop to ask about it and the guy pointed out to me it doesn't matter which kit i get but the thicker the wire, it may not fit under the sides... he showed me this 0 gauge amp kit, holy s**t wires thickass.

i guess i'm leaning towards theh 4 gauge or 8 gauge. thanks everyone.

well i did this for my sis about a month ago, and since she is a college girl on a budget i went to walmart and got her an amp kit. i think it was like 30-40 bucks and came with everything. i think the wire was scoshe(lol or something of that resemblence) 4 or 5 guage

Your first problem is that you asked someone from futureshop. they don't know their asses from holes in the ground. work on commission so as long as you buy something they are happy, even if it's not what you want or need

well i asked ppl here and it didnt help much. the guy wasn't even trying to make a sale because he didnt bother to help unless i asked. he even told me to get the cheaper one...

but how knowledgable was he? i usually end up with the idiots there. guy was trying to sell me on S video and had no idea what he was talking about, telling me stuff like how the sound and everything is better when using S video. Come on....give me a break.....

Lol, we have customers that come into our store like that sometimes and they tell me a lot of misleading information. Scosche makes car kits/amp kits but the material they use is really cheap. Metra makes good car kits. The 4 gauge amp kit Scosche make is like a 8 gauge wire with a lot of insulation to make it the size of a 4 gauge.

he was pretty straight forward. i asked him if it matter which power (300 watts, 600 watts.. etc) kit i should get, and he said it didn't matter... i was like uhh. but after he explained it, it made sense.

yeah some of those guys are morons but this guy was a young dude, he said he had the same amp kit too but better RCA cables.

Audio Info.

Here's some information that might help with setting up a system:

Wattage a power consumption that is dependent on resistance. It is easier to work with voltage because it can be easily measured with a meter.

Let's say we have a driver(speaker) that has a rating of 100W RMS at an impedence of 4Ohms. Using Ohm's Law we find that the driver can safely dissipate 20V. This is useful because impedence is frequency dependent. In other words, at 500Hz the impedence may be 4.5Ohms and it might increase to 6Ohms at 1.5kHZ.

We must also be aware that a program, such as music, has a crest factor. Music consists of an RMS voltage with high amplitude peaks at certain frequencies. This is where an amplifiers RMS and Max wattage ratings come in.

Lets say our program has a crest factor(CF) with an amplitude of 28.28V. If we used our 4Ohm driver, that would calculate out to 200W, 3dB higher than the RMS wattage. This means we would need an amplifier that was capable of 100W RMS at 4Ohms and atleast 200W Max at 4Ohms to allow the complete signal to be produced, if not the amplifier would clip the signal, causing damage to the driver. The max output of an amplifier is only capable of passing that high of a voltage over a short period of time(milliseconds) which is enough to pass the CF.

To best choose a driver or an amplifier we must look at the power ratings, both RMS and Max, the efficiency which is called either the sensitivity or the S/N ratio, and the impedence. Three of the most useful items of information a manufacturer can release is the T/S parameters of the driver, an impedence sweep, and an FFT, fast Fourier transform, which is a frequency respose of the driver. :D

GET THE FOUR GAUGE...and yes...it does matter if you get 12,10, 8 or 4 gauge wire...
