Ok so today I was on my way to work and I had the system (2 Audiobahn 12" subs, and 1000 watt crunch amp) bumping hard for about 15 minutes and all of a sudden the system just cuts off....when I got to work and popped the truck i noticed the amp was really hot. I let it cool down and came back out about 3 hours later and still nothing so I checked all the wiring and everything appears to be hooked up but ever since then the amp wont power on and the lights on it dont light up. I checked the fuses and there both good. Is it possible to fry an amp by overheating it because there is no air circulating in the trunk and i think i may have overheated the amp? I have a warranty on the amp so im not to worried about it but I wont beable to get it looked at until monday because the place I got the system is closed.

real helpfull

most new subs have a thermal circut i believe, so when they get too hot they cut off till they cool down. but since yours didnt work hours later, i dont think that is the problem. and i dont think it would get too hot in the trunk. i would think there would be enough air circulation to keep it cool enough. ive never overheated any amp ive had in my trunk :what:

chances are you're running too small of ground, and you have your subs bridged too low

stop buying audiobahn and have a real installer rewire your subs for you...

oh, and pray it's not fried, yes you can overheat an amp and fry it.... very very easily

i have only overheated one amp before. but it was a $50 amp from kragen, and it was stuck underneath a weeks worth of camping gear for a 8 hour car trip

i fried a nice A/D/S amplifier....
got it cheap and didnt know about it's quality.

i wired that thing at like .25 ohms and ran it hard for awhile.... it started to cut out so i turned the radio off, pulled over, popped the trunk... and then i smelled it

that was at .25 ohms with a good quality amp, an audiobahn would fry much easier and quicker

how do you wire at .25 ohms? nm.

check your ground... check your remote wire. did you check the fuse under the hood? if all those are ok and still no pwr, ur fooked.
