Just come by what seems like a good opportunity. I found a good price for the Kenwood KFC-W2503 500w 10" and I allready have a pair of Lightning audio Bolt 6x9 225w 3 way speakers which are allready connected with a Clarion DXZ738RMP head unit. What amp power do I need to drive the speakers and sub at there best??

You definitely power the sub with an amp. Your head unit will only hurt it.

Power your highs and mids with your deck and the sub with an amp. Or, if your feeling frisky, buy 2 amps... but I would not waste money on an amp for your highs and mids.

yeah, and he can have a good time blowing out 75rms speakers off of head unit power, which will give it half of that. If you wouldn't "waste" your money on amp for highs and mids you are dumb, either that or you don't appreciate good sounding music.

If you are strapped for cash, buy a good 4 channel and run the front speakers off of it and then bridge a channel and run the sub off of that. if it puts around 100W RMS x 4 at 4 ohms you will be good.

well thats exactly what I intended to do, I mean run the high's + mids on seperate chan, and the sub on 2 bridged chan's. Just didnt know what power amp I had to look at! Thanks Verbal!!

yeah, go for as many watts as you can afford. If the sub is dual voice coil than you are going to have to make sure the amp is 1 OHM stable because you will have to run both coils in paralell

He should just let his head unit push his highs and mids. Amping them would be a waste of money. The sub won't be loud enough to drown out the highs so his head unit will do just fine. Get a small 200W amp for your sub and be done with it. Oh... and I've always powered my highs Verbal, but in this case, it isn't necessary.

but he can find a deal on a 4 channel amp that will power both, and send at least 200w to the sub, so why not?:what:

you could pick up the Audiobahn A4004T for 200 bucks
» 50 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
» 100 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
» 200 watts RMS x 2 bridged output

or, since I know a lot of people here hate audiobahn...

Power Acoustik Gothic OV4-800
»85 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
»210 watts RMS x 2 bridged output
