me and my manager have been fighting about turbos for a long time now, i know he wants to turbo whatever his next car is he thinks that u can run 8 pounds of boost to stock internals safely for atleast 5000 miles without doing any damage which would give him enough time to save to rebuild the motor i think its kinda risky based on what my friend who is a leading technician at honda told me so idk is he right in thinking this

please reply im sick of this arguement

8 lbs is perfectly fine as long as its tuned properly, s**t my little d16z6 held 10 untuned. but it also depends on what motor it is too... but generally 8 is safe

x2. people run 8 psi all the time with stock internals. It also depends on the size of the snail too...

8 pounds is deffinatly safe as long as the motor is in good shape. i would get a leak down and compression test first. i would also highly reccomend a tune.but yes it has been done many many many times safely.

he'll be fine with 8lbs. id def get a compression test and get some head studs/new head gasket. How many miles are on the engine?

like others have said, longevity of a turbo setup depends on the tune

PSI dont mean s**t unless you know the size of the turbo. 8psi on a S372r will blow up a stock motor, ask me how i know.

I agree. It depends on the size of the turbo......and how often he uses it. I mean if he dailys those 5k miles and rarely goes about ~2-2.5k RPM's, he should be fine. If he wants to drag race it for 5k miles, no it wont last. I think its crazy and foolish that you can defend your side of the argument without having this kind of information.

true true, I guess I should of put it this way...
8 lbs is safe depending on the following....
1. motor condition (reliability factors)
2. size of the turbo
3. the tune
4. quality of the turbo kit (otherwords ebay kit or name brand)

im running an ebay kit that I got from seller ilovetacotaco. I have had no problems at all with the turbo, fitment or anything... but those kits do not come complete, an I also changed some things with it itself. like I didn't trust the wastegate or boost controller. but other than that it worked beautifully.

but i think its about the mileage to i mean i think you cant put a turbo on a stock engine when its at 150,xxx the motor will stress out and blow
