ok i have a 96 civic hx and i would like to buy an alarm for it. i want viper because i think thats the best company, but if not let me know which is the best company.ok now here is my question, is this alarm good enough for my civic http://cgi.ebay.com/Viper-5002-Responder-2-Way-Security-System-Car-Alarm-/140400966969?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b08cbd39 ? i went to the audio shop and i was told that that alarm is an old model and its kinda slow and they said the one i should get is better and faster and is 519 with install (dont remember model) should i do that? or should i pay 185 on ebay and go to a local shop who quoted 150$ install which would make it almost 400$ after install? i think they were trying to sell me a viper hd model. so can everyone look over that ebay link and tell me if its a good enough alarm

thank

Yeah, they are trying to charge you more money lol. The one you're looking at is fine, if you want to be extra careful you can also install some kill switches, but getting an alarm is definitely a step in the right direction.

yeah so this is a good alarm. is there a better one with more features or faster response for a decent price? the nice thing about the one they were trying to sell me is you could recharge it with a usb plug.also since the alarm has a starter kill , that means it kills the starter when the alarm is armed? yes i will be installing a fuel pump kill switch and i would like to try some others. is it bad to install a killswitch on the ecu, like does it reset anything or trip the cel? and if its ok to add a killswitch to that what wire would i cut

Anything "better" (more expensive) is an overkill really. Why would you possibly need to recharge it with a USB lol, just get a new battery for the remote like once every 3-4 months.

Yeah it disables the starter. Kill switch for the ECU will probably cause some inconveniences.

There's a write-up or a link on here on how to make a kill switch, just search real quick.

I have the same exact one from the link u posted OP. It works great. I bought it along with a tilt sensor, back up battery, and glass break sensor. I had a friend installed it, who works at a shop and does install on the side. He charged me 100 bucks which total my whole alarm to about 350. Local shops wanted 419 just for the alarm itself installed. I high recommend that alarm and some kill switches. Hope this helps
