i really want to do this but im not sure how to go about putting them in the stock 6 1/2 location, just cut it out with a die grinder and drill some holes or what?

Not in HIS car.... according to his profile, its a 5th gen civic, the rear deck has a cut out for 6.5"s

I would also go with 6.5" coaxials in the rear for ease and sound, but honestly rear speakers arent entirly needed... a nice set of componets up front would be a better investment, IMO

with rear fill components are not needed. The idea of components are for staging and imaging. Using components in the rear is overkill, the driver will never notice the benefit of components in the rear. A solid set of 6.5 co-ax in the rear with a matching set of components in the front is optimal
