Ok, kind of an odd question.

I can find the Apexi WS2 exhaust system:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_exhaust_detail.asp?ID=176

Typically this is around $500.00.

But, I can also find a "universal muffler"

http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_exhaust_detail.asp?id=177&pageNum=1

These are much cheaper around $200.00.

Is the universal muffler a bad idea? I'm not in this one for the 0.5 HP @ 6000RPM that I might get from a cat back system. I just want a nice stainless muffler that isn't going to rust or rattle? I don't really care if it's louder, or whatever, this is just looks. Will this one look bad?

Oh yeah, and I'm trying to keep the price down. Exhaust wasn't really in my budget, but I figured I would spend a little and dress up the tail pipe, the OEM tail looks kinda sad. I've tried chrome tips, but with the harsh weather around here I'm replacing them every year. They rust out, rattle, and look nasty after awhile.

i see nothing wrong with a universal muffler. IMO on are cars to spend 500+ to get 4 HP max is a little ridiulous. I would still get the piping done also at a local muffler shop. That way you not only have the look but it will sound alot better than just a muffler.
Is there any name brand on this universal muffler?

I curently have a magnaflow muffler and custom piping out the door was 310. i love it.. not to loud. but then again..aint to quiet either =) screams when i floor it.

The universal is an Apexi WS2. I'm not sure if the universal is it's own unique different design, or if it's a design off one of the catback models.. No idea.

I'd go with the Greddy Sp2 but that's only in Cat-back

the WS2, is almost identical, it's one of the sweetest loooking exhausts out there that aren't fart cans or anything.

Yeah. I suppose I might have to call a few shops and see what they would charge to weld it on for me.

You can get a shop to put a universal muffler on and replace your exhaust (cat-back, even header back if you want) for CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! For what you want, that is definetly the way to go!
