I just wanted to share my install with other hatch owners thinking of upgrading their system. My previous car was a Toyota Camry that competed seriously in soundoffs. After I got rid of that car, the goal for my civic was simply for a decent sounding system that doesn't attract attention.
Up front is the stock headunit and a 6-disc Alpine changer in the glove box.
The right rear speaker pod houses relays and an Audiocontrol active LOC.
The left rear speaker pod houses a Precision Power DEQ-230 equalizer.
The box is made with fiberglass and MDF.
A DLS RA40 amplifier powers the front components and sub. There is no ventalation but everything is running at 4ohm stereo / mono mix, so it's not being pushed too hard. (Survived this past Southern California summer.)
I used an 8" Kicker Comp. Certain 10's would have worked as well but I prefered the sound of the Kicker.
I made a false floor out of 1/2" MDF so the hatch area would still be usable to load groceries and cargo.
The car retains a stock look in the hatch.
Hopefully this is helpful to other hatch owners looking for ideas.
