hi guys,

i've been told that to get better and clear sound, you can take the door panels out, and cover up the holes there with insulation tape or something..

What is the proper name of that tape?

Where can i find it?

Will aluminum tape do the same thing?

, cause I can find aluminum tape for about $3 a roll...so yea...thanks

you are looking for "damping" or "dampening" material. there are endless companies that make it...dynamat, b-quiet, second skin, etc. any good audio shop will cary it but im sure prices are better online. I have no experience substituting aluminum tape, but im sure someone will chime in with an affordable alternative. I have used dynamat and i like it.

100 mph tape. That s**t is like thick aluminum with adhesive on one side. It's cheap, can't remember what i paid for it though. Me, myself haven't used it for what your talking about, but it probably would do the trick. Just a suggestion.

You are not looking for insulating tape, as others have said, you are looking for deadening mat; the confusion must be arising from the fact that deadening mat is backed with aluminum sheeting. Aluminum tape will not do the same things because the butyl portion of the mat is what adds mass, which is the main factor in vibrational and structural noise elimination. Honestly, you get what you pay for; at bare minimum, make sure your product is butyl based, not asphalt based like cheap knock-offs and Dynamat Original. Second Skin Damplifier Pro is hands down the best and thickest product on the market, however it is not the cheapest. If you are on a budget or if you are not running high end components, processors, etc (which I suppose in that case you wouldn't have been on a budget in the first place), it would be acceptable to choose a more affordable mat. To effectively do the job well, you will need approximately 12 sq ft per box.
