I know this doesn't relate to any good cars, but i have a friend with a 99 cavalier who is trying to install a 1200 watt MTX 4-Channel Amplifier (TC4004), with 2 MTX 10" Car Subwoofer (MZS1004) (min 150, max output 300 watt). Anyone happen to know if that pos cavalier's alternator and battery are strong enough to power that system? They say they're getting problems when they turn it up, the system starts to cut out, and that's my frist though..not enough juice

Shouldn't be a problem running that, but if your friend has the money he could always get a cap and see if it helps.

ok, well there goes one idea. i'll have to check his wiring and s**t next time i see him. i know his alternator belt is slipping, could that have something to do with it? (not pushing as much power as it should be kinda thing?)

Possibly. Could be that if the alternator is not making enough power to power the whole thing at full blast. But I think that if that was the case then it would be a bit off not so loud too. Could just be the speakers can't handle the power that high. I'm sure you've been in cars where they have crappy speakers and when they turn up their system it sounds like s**t. I'm not a total pro at car audio yet so I'm not totally sure of the problem/answer, but I'm just throwing in my two cents to help out for now.
