Ok,
So I left my car at the shop b/c I needed some work done. One item on my list was my engine temp gauge as it wasn't moving at all. I picked up the car today and he said it had a bad switch and replaced it. I have no idea what he is talking about and said ok. It was fixed and I didn't care. I had noticed that the panel to my interior fuse box was on the floor. It probably fell off or they forgot to put it back on, IDK. I don't even know if they even had to access that panel to fix the switch.

They must have disconnected the negative on the battery b/c when I put my radio face plate back on it asked for my security code. OK I put it in, it said authorized and it played for a whopping 10 seconds and the panel went blank and no tunes.

I was perplexed and figure I just hit the reset button on the face. It powered right back on and I entered the security code. Worked fine for two minutes this time and poof... all of a sudden nothing.

I can't figure it out. What would make the head unit power down as if the battery was disconnected? Is there even anything in the fuse panel area that would affect it? I don't think so, but I'm open to suggestions. So it works for a few minutes after I hit reset, but then powers back down.

Suggestions/ Comments??

there is a fuse for it, i blew one before. but the cd player wont play at all until you replace it. maybe a wire with a bad connection or something, moving around and losing power.

sounds like a ground or a bad power lead. the smoke signals being that it resets the radio every time implying that its totally losing power.

it sounds like the fuse for the stereo may be loose...pull it out and put it back in...is that the only funny thing happening?
