I recently bought a teg and the person before had an audvox installed. So tonight the alarm just started going off, it wasnt even armed. I couldnt turn it off but eventualy it went off by itself. Then later it went off again. I just grabed some wire cutters, went out popped the hood and snipped the speaker wire (shows how hard it is to get past my alarm). I think its still going off, without noise, unless it shut off again.
Anyone know whats going on? its also raining, im thinking something shorted. not hardcore rain though, its pretty light. Also with the speaker disconnected its not gonna kill my battery is it?

Do you know where the valet switch is? It's usually a little metal switch mounted under the steering wheel somewhere. Find that, when you do, put the key in the ignition, turn the car to on (dont start it) and flip the little switch. If that doesn't work, try it again, flipping the switch back the other way.

More questions... Does the LED usually stay lit constantly? and if so, is it blinking now? Try flipping the switch though.

ill look for the switch, and when the system is armed the led blinks. Another thing is that the lights werent blinking. when they alarm goes off they should blink.

I found the switch, i dont know if pressing it does anything since i cut the siren though. When i use the button to unlock my car it relocks it imediatly after. and when i start the car it locks. I found the brain and pulled some fuses, so now it doesnt do anything. Does anyone know how to fix it once i hook it back up?

an alarm going off for no reason constantly is usually an indicator of two things

1. The alarm is either done for and f**ked or it was a home job and installed f**ked.

2. Either there is a parasitic load on the batter (something draining power) alarms will trigger and freak out if the voltage gets too low to support. Even though the car will start the alarm still does not get the voltage it wants causing it to to go off and not respond to the transmitter.

Either way just cutting the siren isnt going to cure anything but actually make it worse. Take it to a shop and have it fixed or removed or you will find yourself not being able to start it one morning
