I drive a 2000 civic ex. I bought a sirius satellite radio about a month ago and have ben using the fm transmitter wiht it. What I want is a wired connection, from the satellite reciever to the oem radio. My question is, are there any spare jacks on the back to plug in an input cable( i think its a 3.5mm headphone cable end)????

Would I need one of these? http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=xiah-hd1

Alright alright, so all stock decks 99% wont have an aux input, unless its one of those new fancy ones with built in ipod hookups. I just bought an older alpine deck and got a cord that converts cd changer input to rca. So I dont know which manufacture makes your stock deck, but I think it might be alpine. Now this cord i bought only works with higher end alpine units with versatile changer feature. But, there is a way. You can hardwire it right into your antenna on the back of your deck, your sirius that is. I talked to a car audio shop and they said that was the main way to hardwire it on a older or stock deck. Best bet is to go to a specialty car audio shop and talk to an installer and not a sales rep, some of those guys got no idea what they are talking about, just the price they get from commision. Hope this helped, I know I had a bunch of filler words that made this thing too long, sorry.

you might have to get a aftermarket headunit, then get a direct connect that sirius sells that plug into the back of the headunit

That's also an option, but if you dont want to drop 400 on a deck, which I think is a huge waste of money, just find an older deck with an aux input, they are rare, but they are out there. Or, you can get a regular older deck like I got, but make sure there is such a cord to conver it's cd changer input to an aux input, then you hook your sirius up through that. I beleive for all kenwood models they made that conversion, but be careful with alpine, the alpine deck needs to be either a CDA-____ or be one of the few select CDM-____ that have versatile changer control (an option on only 4 alpine decks from the CDM line). I'll give you my kenwood deck for free, it worked fine yesterday, and I turned it on yesterday and it didnt light up, then another time just some led lights showed and played the cd, but you couldnt do anything, just some random lights on the display. But like I said, if you want it and maybe get it repaired, it's yours. But its probably better and cheaper to get a cheap one off ebay. Just make sure there is such a cord for it that converts cd changer input-rca. Sorry for my long ass posts.

Looks wonderful, but where does it hook into a stock deck, I got no idea? Maybe pull it and see if you can see an input like so.

what i was thinking, if youre good with soldering, a friend of mine took his stock audi headunit and converted the cd changer jack into an auxillary input for his ipod

dude

periphereal part

pxdx

and peripheral harness

pxhhd1

that is your aux solution for civics 98-2004

And I think you meant to say that 99% of the cars have some sort of solution to get any sort of auxilary into the stereo

The only vehicles I have ran into that are a pain are the Lexus, and even then a company called Vais has the input adapters for that

here's the pics of what i was talking about, my friend who modded his audi headunit... basically just find the R and L points for the input (cd changer), then find a ground point.

its actually not that hard, once you find the points. but then again i dont know if this is any use to us civic ppl cause i dont know how similar honda stock headunits are.... you'd have to remove the back plate off to check it out, i would check it out if i had a stock honda cd player, too bad i bought my car used with aftermarket headunit
