no its pretty easy, i dunno if its different for an EK, but on my EG it was simple. all u do is take off the shift knob, jack the car up and get under there. unbolt the one bolt from the shifter to the shift linkage. unbolt the 2 bolts holding the plate to the shifter stabilizer, then unbolt the shifter stabilizer and let it drop. the shifter should then pull out. next take the rubber boot off the old shifter and grease up the new short shifter and put it inside the boot. reinstall the shifter the same way it came out. but as your reinstalling put in the new bushings 2. the one should b on the shifter side of the stabilizer, the block looking one. the other 2 should b on the tranny side and they jus slide right in each side. those are simple. just make sure u hav enough wd40 to get all the rust off those bolts. after u eventually get them off let them sit in some wd40 while u grease up the new shifter. reinstalling is a breeze. the only hard thing about it is the tight spaces and the rusty bolts. good luck and if u hav ne problems jus ask
