search.. this has been asked and answered. and which one is better for you depends on a lot of factors- goals, driving habits, car, budget, etc- none of which you have listed.

A turbo D16 or a B16........FLIP A COIN MY FRIEND.........going B16 is way more expensive, but your limited to how much boost your D16 can handle before it pops..........I guarantee that you will want more power after a week of installing either and it's so easy to just boost a little more..........and so much more fun.................I'm just glad it's easy to work on..............PEACE

hmm as they said budget is a main factor too...
imo why not save a lil extra for the swap...who knows what other setup u can come up with, u can still eventually save more money to turbo the swap in the long run.
but its up to u...

just make sure if u do buy a turbo for ur sohc ull be happy with it. also make sure u get it installed right, some shops just bolt it on not knowing what they are doing when their main inventory are bling bling rims and altezzas... thats what most of us make a mistake on...doing something, then eventually end up taking it off and paying more for something u really want. GOOD LUCK THOUGH!

I've had my heart set on a B16 in my RT4WD utilizing a CR-V tranny. Decided its too much headache (after extensive research). I think I'm going to use some low compression pistons, Crower econo rods... and go for a little bit of budget boost.

A proper built and tuned turbo motor, will run every day and definately spank a good ol B swap. But... and a BIG but mind you... for reliability purposes, most people would opt for the B swap. I've got a fleet of cars, so if my daily beater 4WD decides to s**t on me, I've got plenty of other modes of transportation. I'm lucky in that sense. Post pics when you start surgery
