Big props on your car nice ride i also see you are a cop and NJ .....lol and racing on the streets? hmmmmmm no no no!!! take it form another cop. IMO the driver has alot to do with it as well as the type of car, the gear ratio the type of clutch, the fuel management etc etc there is more than just shooting some NOS and claming to beat a 14 sec car on the streets, is diffrent too take that same car to a 1/4 mile track and post the slips the so called 14 sec car was it the same type of car you own? when you raced him was it at a distance of a 1/4 mile from a dead stop or was it from a roll? did you beat him on the top end? im just curious
1) im not a cop... but i am very involved with several local law enforcement agencies...
2) the driver DEFINATELY has a lot to do with it... i totally agree..
3) yes its true i have run my car on the street TONS of times.. it is NOT normally "stoplight races" in heavy traffic areas... it is generally an isolated road in the middle of nowhere.. where the chances of anything going wrong are VERY low.. in fact in the 5+ years ive been out to races ive never seen an issue.. keep in mind this is NOT a bunch of highschool kids doing burnouts and s**t.. it is typically a much older (mostly domestic) group.. the police have come a few times... we dont run, they simply shut it down and send us home.. i have no tickets.. no points.. so i just want to be clear that when you picture "street racing" and OUR street racing are probably a little different
4) i totally agree with you on the track thing.. but to be honest i simply dont care what the car runs at the track.. its not really a key point to me.. the races that i refered to were paced off 1/4 miles with markers at the end.. and they were from a complete dead stop.. flaged by a flager..
