In the same car? Or in their respected vehicles they come in?

an ls/vtec will be faster than a stock b16a2 in the same car. its got more power and more torque because it's got larger displacement and a longer stroke, despite the slightly lower compression ratio

It's not a huge difference really. If one looks into the smaller details, the b16a is a near perfect motor. Almost perfect R/S ratio and I love how tight the gears are in the trans!!! You give up a touch in displacement, but I wouldn't trade my b16 for anything...

lol near perfect? you mean because it's square? how does that make it near perfect? then in your opinion a b16a2 would be a better motor than a b18c5 because the b18 isnt square... which is pretty much incorrect in every way by a logical definition of a "perfect motor". also, no one said anything about transmission. an S4C tranny bolts to an lsvtec just as easily as it does a b16 so gear ratios shouldnt even be a factor. so basically, not only are you sacrificing displacement with a b16 over b18 (which means sacrificing potential for even more power growth) but you are sacrificing stroke length which is the biggest factor in torque on any piston driven internal combustion engine. my point is, stock for stock, an ls/vtec > b16 anyday and everyday, all things created equal

an ls/vtec does not have a "respective vehicle" because its a combination of 2 different engines. the 1.8 non-vtec LS block out of an integra GS or LS, combined with the vtec head from a b16a or b18c. and no, an ls/vtec is not a GSR motor.

so i'm confused if you're trying to compare 2 different vehicles, or 2 different engines. but like i said if 2 same model civics, 1 with b16a and the other with ls/vtec, had a heads up race with similarly capable drivers, the ls/vtec civic would win everytime. more power. more torque
