hi i wanna do a b18 turbo build. i want to completly rebuild the block bottom end and top end with forged internals, cam, intake manifold.ect so a couple of questions i have are:

can someone make a list of the average cost for parts to rebuild the engine, for thoes cheap 1000 dollar ebay turbo kits ik there crap but i was wondering how good the piping was that comes with them cause i was thinking about buying one and scraping everything except the piping or should i just avoid them altogether, and lastly i dont want to have a rediculously short gear ratio(not trying to build a drag car)
so i wanted a taller gear ratio. is it possible to change out the gear ratios in b series trannys cause i dont wanna be spinning all the way into 3rd gear. my plans to make 300hp at first but i wanna have room to make more.

I would advise piecing together your own kit instead of buying one outright.. that way you get EXACTLY what you want. Custom charge piping is the way to go, it fits better, looks better and performs better. Most kits you see will need modifications to the charge piping anyway, so might as well build your own!

Yes you can change out the gearing in the trans. I have a B16 motor which has short gears, I swapped out the 5th gear for an LS 5th gear to give me lower rpms on the highway for cruising.

Utilizing good tuning is going to make/break the build as well, if you go with hondata s300 and have it tuned there is a feature called boost by gear and launch control which can help keep the car from spinning 1st-3rd. I've got all this on my car making 400 whp and I can keep traction pretty well!

What most people do is buy an ebay kit, replace the important stuff(turbo, wastegate) with quality pieces and do a little work to get it to fit right. What trans do you have now?

As for internals I feel it is pick your poison, these days you hear good and bad about EVERYTHING. I always liked keeping a stockish compression ratio so the car isnt a dog during regular driving. I am not sure where Mayfield is, but if you're close to Columbus in any sort of way, hit up slowmotion for your tuning. If closer to Cincy hit up Dave Blundell(althought I think youre closer to Columbus) either way you'll be set.
