Alright so I am new to clubcivic, but not so new to the honda game. This is my 3rd honda now. 1st- Crx HF, 2nd- 2000 Prelude, Currently- 2000 civic ex. My civic is pretty stock other than suspension and the D16Y8 has a port and polished head. Now I am debating whether to build and boost my d series or build an N/A B16. Suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any specific build setups for either d or b series that anyone prefers or is currently running?

B16 over D16 turbo all day, more reliable, more potential, you get more out of your bolt ons, etc.

If your goal is 200 to the wheels, my vote goes towards the N/A B16.

By the way, welcome to the site.

I say b16 also, and I'm a huge forced induction guy!

Nothing like the sound of a high revving b series on a track!

Just to add a reason why....I voted B16 for one reason.....200hp with a turbo D16 is not going to give you the same powerband as 200hp with an N/A B16. It shouldn't cost much money to reach 200hp with an N/A B16, probably comparable to a reliable turbo for the D16. But I think that the N/A is going to give you a more desirable powerband than the turbo.

Boost the D, get a good tune on low boost with stock internals do some maintenance on the motor, water pump timing belt, etc.

Sell the car, and use profit to fund a b16 turbo or n/a build. Then you can get to know what it takes to reach your power goals.

Use the money on a b16 setup, cause that swap alone is more than what it would cost to boost your D reliably. Just gotta find the right setup and wait for good prices to come around.
