Back seat key

So I got new speakers for my 2000 ex (obviously the first thing to do with a new car is the audio  ), but when I got the front ones in and moved to the back, I can't get them out. See, the little keyhole thingie won't fit my key ._.
I asked my dad and he said the lock is probably just old and stiff, but I figured I'd just post here to make sure it's not, like, a stolen back seat or something

Also, this might be a good time to discuss my front left speaker. It didn't work before I replaced them, so I figured it was just the speaker being blown or something. Turns out I was wrong, I think the wiring from the deck to the speakers has issues or something? Is this....a common problem? I just replaced the deck a few days ago, so it's not that, and I just replaced the front speakers today, so it's not that either? Any advice on either of these would be great, and much appreciated.

TL;DR
My civic has audio issues and I can't get the back seats down

The Lock may be stiff or may be different for the key you have. but you don't need it to fold down the back seats.

If you look in the trunk area at the top you will see two black handles that are kind of hanging, if you pull those and push on the seats they will fold down so that you can do whatever you need to

ive run into this problem with the key before, turns out the key only works one way even though both sides of the key are the same...pretty stupid

if it doesnt turn the first time take it out and flip it around then it should work

Also your ignition or back seat key cylinder could have been replaced. Check to see if your speaker works if you wiggle your door around, its common for the harness that plugs into the door to become depinned

getting those rear speakers out is fun..

Might as well clean everything up while you have your rear seats out

Well, it only took two hours, but new speakers are in the back :D

Now I just hope I put everything back together right...

Also, mc360, I'm gonna try that and hope to god that's it

If you cant get it to work then you will have to pull the fender to check the plug, other than that idk what it could be

eeehhhh looks like my next thing to do is pull the door panel and/or fender to check that out....any help on that?

Speaking of door panel removals, my passenger window doesn't go down. I don't hear any sounds at all when I hit either switch. I've seen a lot of them go off the track, but wouldn't you still hear the motor?

It might be easier for you to just run some new speaker wire from your stereo to the door that isn't working that way you don't have to spend time searching and the new wire would be better than stock anyway, just take the time to run it through the door harness and under the dash well.

Normally that is easier and better.

In reference with the key not folding the seat, there are two kind of keys the main key and the valet key, the valet key only open the doors and ignition

if this is the case you can have the dealer make a copy of the main key using your vin# for like $3 that way you can open the seats from the inside.

check that speaker to make sure the wires are connect by the speaker and by the receiver. make sure they arent grounding on each other or to something else.

Pulling the fender is easy and takes about 10 minutes, 3 10mm bolts on the top under hood, a bolt/screw connected to the bumper, a couple connexted to the headlight, one in the door jamb ( must open door to remove), a screw holding the sideskirt then just slide forward, 2 10mm under side skirt
