Hey, i just joined today and i have some questions about turbos. I dont want to spend like $3000 for a kit. Are there any entry level turbos for my 99 Civic EX? If you could help, please give me links to the websites. I was talking to this guy he said he could sell me a custom turbo for $400 and it would give me 50+ hp and tourqe gains.

i wouldnt believe the guy about 50+ horsepower for 400 bucks but that is just me. You can get a GReddy kit for around 1000 bucks.

actually you can get used turbo kits for about 500 bucks, and they give just as much hp as any off the shelf kit new for 3 grand or more. but you lose the shiny pipes and the fancy brand name. isnt that worth 2500 bucks? unless your in cali and need the carb stamp, a used turbo kit is by far the best option.

best way to a cheap turbo kit is ebay, i swear. do your research on turbos like the TD04, 20G, 16G, T3, T3/T4, and the decide which one you want. hit up ebay and you can generally find an internally gated rebuilt 16G off of an Eclipse for like 300. the intercoolers are like water to find there. then all you need is the manifold, also easy to find. get the piping made at a local shop. then the extras like the BOV, boost controller, s**t like that is also out there.

the 92-95 greddy kit is cheaper than the 96-00 greddy kit. this is because the 96-00 kit comes with a 19T turbo, while the 92-95 comes with a 15G. i believe all kits should come with the new e-manage system, which (from what i have heard) can be tuned via profec-b II.

pay www.turbod16.com a visit. there's a guy there called SleeperCivicEx who is an authorized OPTIONS dealer. he can get anything from the www.optauto.com catalogue at cheaper prices.

There's a buddy of mine in Dallas that has a'95 coupe with a 2nd gen Eclipse turbo, cusom manifold, fmi, blow-off, and a bunch of other stuff and he said he'd build me the same kit for like $600! He's been running it on stock internals for 50-60k, and has had no problems with about 8 lbs. of boost daily driving. He bumps it up to 20 lbs. at the drag strip, I forgot what his latest numbers were, but I'll check and post again. I'm thinking about doing this to my car in the near future!
