beefing up my security... ??'s

Hi guys, this looks like a good place to start my thread. My car was recently broken into and the thief took my dvd player out of the dash and busted the dash to s**t. good thing he didnt take the rest of the stereo or the whole car... Anyway, I have plans to beef up the alarm with a backup battery and some extra sirens, and install an ignition kill off of the alarms normally open relay lead. that way the only way the car will run is if the alarm is hooked up and disarmed. My only question is - to use the backup battery (a dei 520T), i need to run a relay off the alarm to the parking lights (the backup battery will not supply enough voltage to run the lights obviously). what kind of relay should i use (normally open or closed)? my thoughts are to use a normally open relay. i know that the wiring in my car has a factory lead from the fuse box to run to an aftermarket alarm for the lights, but does the circuit have a relay already built in or not? Also, will having a relay between the circuit and the alarm prevent someone from disabling the alarm by shorting out the parking lamps?

Pain in the ass but it works: take your ECU with you whenever you leave your car parked.

i know someone who put the siren under the dash, so when your alarm goes off, it's just about impossible to be inside the car while it's going off, unless you don't want to hear again. also, their about 200 dollars more, but def. worth it, a 2 way alarm system. so when your alarm is going off, it actually chirps on your clicker, the really good ones do up to like a mile and a half. so you could be in the mall or camping or something, and you'll still know, that way you can get to the assholes in the crime. also come kill switches could help too. something as simple as a button under your seat that when it's pressed it disengages the the battery or something like that.
good luck, sorry to hear about your s**t getting jacked.

well so far ive gotten my new parts for the alarm system.... but im still having issues with the light wiring, since ive installed the backup battery, i need to find out if i need to install a relay on the light trigger output to the wiring under the dash.

so far the backup battery works i guess, since i ran my battery dead yesterday, (shouldnt leave those head lights on, stupid.) and it set the alarm off. good way to remind you to turn the lights off isnt it?

ive already installed a second siren inside the car, and its loud too. as for the kill switch, theres no point in putting one on the fuel pump, you can get the thing in about 2 seconds by lifting the back seat up. a starter kill wouldnt do me any good when the car can be push started. so my idea is to install a stealth kill on the ignition somewhere under the hood and close to the motor... it would be very hard to bypass when the hood is locked down wouldnt it?

i have some locking hood pins i want to install to lock the hood up, but i need to straighten the front clip up a bit more since its tweaked pretty good. thats gonna be a project and a half... but its on a long list of items to do... like replace my bumper, d/s fender and sideskirt, d/s headlight... it's never ending...

anyway back to the point... is the red and blue wire under the dash (parking lights) a low current wire with a relay, or is it straight to the lights? i've looked it up on mitchell on demand but cant find any useful info about it.

thanks for the help.
