hey i was just wondering what is the best suspension set up for my 92-95 civic hatchback? my car is hella bouncy with stock shocks and neuspeed lowering springs. i'm thinking about buying Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks w/ 1.75 lowing springs with it. or should i just buy the shocks and keep my neuspeed lowering springs? aight hit this up with some answers.

well the struts will do the job but if you want to start over go to someone who does alot of testing like Tein or Progress

My shop that i go to was wanting me to get neuspeeds real bad... apparently they think pretty highly of them and they told me they dont lower it too much, so if youre happy with how much they lower your car you should just pick up some struts. tein and progress are the s**t..no doubt..but my credit limit is barely high enough just to get the rear set. I'm waiting on my tokico spring and shock set i ordered to come in, MONDAY wont come fast enough! That is why i waited and saved to get a matched set because i heard putting springs or coilovers on the stock struts makes civics really bouncy. But ill definately hit you up with some pics and info once i get my stuff in

or you can slap on some Koni adjustables "they give you better traction for the hole shot" jk. or just go with the tokico

Here it is, after sum shiot with UPS (united pot smokers) i finally got my package with my springs and struts. Now installed they made my car feel 100 % better. Handles, looks and feels absolutely great. The car doesnt squeal tires even hard around a corner and the body feels so straight, hardly any roll. WELL WORTH THE 355 DOLLARS SHIPPED. I am really glad i got these, plus they really didnt 'slam' my car, im thinking 1 maybe 1.4 inch drop. I also had my rear lower strut bar put on, so its a little bit tighter, the way it handles now is very confidence inspiring, i had it out in the rain today for a little while and it was pretty slick cuz of the oil, and the understeer is much much more manageble, no this isnt going to make your steering and ride like a bmw but your honda will feel like its trying to be a bmw.

there are those springs peeking out

ShaZaaam!

Also is it true you really dont need camber kits if ur drop is under 2 inches? thnx

the best setup.... tein type flex with itr lca's and an edfc. of course that will run you a couple grand (at least) but some basic teins for around 750 bucks are superior to any spring/ shock combo you can throw together.

these are super good if you dont have that much money to spend...we're not all rich like you connecticut folk with your huge signatures. why you always gotta be flossing g? trying to knock my hustle? Also, i really doubt that stuff is worth it unless your gonna be tracking that shiot. Also not everyone has access or money to go to a place with the scales necessary to balance coilover suspension. I'm just exhibiting what i got because someone asked to see, I needed my car to be comfortable because im gonna be driving over 100 miles a day soon. I thought this was one of the best streetable setups i have driven. I didnt want my car to ride all harsh and feel every bump, i have driven an integra with teins, it is great, but you can feel too much for a street car. That kind of suspension reminds me of the porsche boxster we used to have, the steering is very tight and you can feel all the bumps in the road, but its not something you would want on a harsh american road every day. That kind of stuff is engineered for high speed driving, something my little 1600cc engine will never do. unless i get a turbo. and highways without potholes. h-town :x

also, they were not 'thrown together' as you say, this is a matched set, available from tokico, thinks its HPK201A part number, look for tokico shocks on ebay and you can get the same deal as me 355 shipped to your door. Comes in one box, containing 2 front and 2 rear struts, and 2 front and 2 rear springs designed and balanced for the honda civic.

Sherpagoodness! Youre from H-town? Im trying to figure out some kind of getogether for that area, can i look you up if that happens?

hell yea nawwwwga, im near conroe tho, so i bet im not very close to you. college station is like about to austin from here i think? we could meet on some little area along 290? there would be really good places along the highway for a civic foto time.

he asked what the best suspension setup was. i told him. and those teins you drove on, what where they setup at? most teins have adjustable dampning control along with ride height adjustability. and im not rich by any means, im poor as s**t. but i still think that teins are really really good, and worth the money. and the 750 bucks is factory retail, im sure they can be found much cheaper (im not in the market at the moment, so i dont know) if you know where to look.

if you want to get technical like a b***h he said he didnt want to spend 1000 dollars, read the posts. anywho, teins with the electronic on board damping control and all that jazz is great, but its just another thing i need in my car to distract me while im driving down the road. i was thinking about getting adjustables but why screw around with my stuff all day. popeil "set it and forget it"

woah there captain, in his original post, he asked what the best suspension setup was. said nothing about money. thats what i answered. im not "getting technical like a b***h" i just didnt read every post. im sorry, most of the time the other posts are crap on threads like this. yea edfc is great, and no you dont have to mess with it constantly. you can set it and forget it. but you have the option of changing it as the road or track changes. getting off the highway and onto your favoirte backroad? bam, instant change in suspension. leavin the local track for home, same thing. its all about priorites. i wouldnt ever get the edfc. i dont need it, and neither do you. thats cool. i like the adjustability, because i want to be able to alter the handling of my car to suit my mood and how im going to be driving. thats my choice to make. you made a different choice. neither is wrong, its just personal choice. no need to get defensive or offensive at me.

hey thanks sherpagoodness for putting up pics and info on your new tokico shocks and springs. yea i think i've made my decision now. i'm gonna get the tokico shocks w/ springs cause thats all i could afford right now and they seem good from what your telling me.

they are uber good. just when you buy them, if you get them on ebay like me. Just be sure to double check your order information....especially the email you should receive from ups about package tracking. check the address it is sent to. the guy i bought mine from did this:
Jordan Greene
235 Bristol Greene

Instead of:
Jordan Greene
235 Bristol Bend

I didnt realize the error until i checked the tracking they day the package was supposed to arrive, and it said couldnt deliver, no such street. almost made me s**t my pants. but i eventually got it worked out. But yea, to me, i think this is a great deal, cuz you can barely get a set of kyb agx or any other adjustable for 300. and this is everything you need, not just part of it. Also the more i thought about it, i really didnt want the adjustables because, just like everything else in my car, it would be in a constant state of flux. Just one more little thing i dont need to be playing around with all the time. And unless you have huge rims 18 19 or up, i dont think you should get any tire interference because the drop is not that significant, just enough to look good.
