Hey guys wondering if anyone could help me out with some questions. I just bought my first honda a couple months ago. 1996 civic ex 5 speed and i love it. I threw a rod bearing and im not sure where to go from here. I have the 1.6L non vtec motor d16 and im not sure which way to go. Should i rebuild this motor with some forged internals and boost it next summer? or should i just swap with a d16 vtech? i beleive thats the d16y8? idk im learning as i go. or should i just upgrade it more to a B series? and if so how does everything bolt up? Transmission clutch, intake mani, exhaust, etc. im trying to see which would be the cheapest and wats most productive. Maybe throw some rough estimates on the different ways to go? thanks for your time and im looking forward to see what you guys got to say thanks

It all depends on your budget and what your goals are. If you get a B-series you will need the full motor and trans as your D-series parts won't bolt up to it.

That's what I was going to say. It's hard to decide what to get without setting some goals.

do not rebuild it buy a new one with warranty in my opinion is much cheaper and if your going to turbo make sure you dont lag on doing so because i built my crx for 22 psi and i did everything to it it was running rich on oil and was killing my gas like no other go for the d16y8 its vtec gives you more of a pull and as for me i dont like illegal or swaps i like to keep my car orignal and take out ricers with my single cam i have more respect for guys who run there specified engine to there car for example if im running a single cam and you go up agianst a for example b16 and you keep up? thats mad respect if you ask me i have a friend that has an eg hatchback 92 onlything hes pushing is single cam zc vtec 2 bolt ons intank and exauhst 5 speed took out my boy in his 95 prelude h23 by a bumper lenght thats respect just keep your car oem unless your going to bard because if you get popped by the one time (911) you will get screwed
