I just have. A few questions since I'm about to turbo my b16. First let me start by saying this is for daily driving so I'm gonna have around 250 hp. My engine has 130,xxx miles on it right now and I'm kkinda. Nervous its too much. I've searchhed and haven't found a straight up answer. What do you think I should do in order to make it decently reliable. The head and block have all oem parts and stock clutch still. Should I bring it to a machine shop and have everything cleaned? Lmk what u guys think

build it for boost. You have to research and find out how much boost pressure a stock motor can handle. To rid yourself of doubts, build that motor for boost (not cheap, but worth it). This means, forged rods, low comp. pistons, crank, valves, etc etc.

If everything is in good mechanical shape just to strengthen it I would do the following.

ARP Head Studs
Total Seal Piston Rings
Cylinder Hone
Cometic Headgasket

If you have a few bucks left over go for the Golden Eagle block guard or something comparable.

After that get a good tune using your favorite software and your pretty much solid. Have fun and good luck!

New clutch?
+ injectors

do a complete tune up on the motor, then a leakdown and/or compression test to make sure it's in good enough shape to handle the boost. if youre compression is bad now, throwing boost in the situation is only going to magnify the problem

start with a compression and leak down test. that will tell you right away if your motor can handle boost in its current state.

get head studs and a gasket if you didnt already. and a boost gauge run like 7 -9 psi you should be fine.

depends on how much boost you want to run. If your block is in good shape, it should be able to handle up to about 9psi. For anything more than that, you'd have to build it w/ forged internals.
