Borderline Entrapment

So I have heard the same stories from different people about undercover cops and their new techniques for cracking down on street racers. The latest thing i have heard about this was from my brother. He told me that he was passing by the police station and he saw a row of raced out looking imports...black and whites, lights on the dash, and low profile police emblems on the rear. Supposidley they will pull up to a car that appears to have their car suped up, rev their engines, then pull them over as soon as they speed.

Anybody else hear anything about this?

if they ticket you for speeding, all they really have to say is they didnt rev on you, whos the law going to beleive, a teenager with a turbo import and a shitty driving record saying the cop tricked me, or the police officer

As long as they dont directly ask you to race, then its not technically entrapment. Id say f**k em and take off. If its a race they want then a race they shall have  :drive:

I disagree it is definitely entrapment. According to my buisness law book it states " in criminal law, a defense in which the defendant claims that he or she was induced by a public official-- usually an undercover agent or police officer--- to commit a crime that he or she would otherwise not have committed"
So in your defense you can say you don't street race and they were egging you on

i know i'm not in socal.... but it's a common practice for the cops to do that around here.
there's a souped up new bug (yes i know :( ), a teggy, a civic, and an accord from what i hear.
ontop of their unmarked z28 and ss camaro's that will pull the same stunt

Cop cars are equipped with video recorders that have audio. So I doubt they are gonna rev to provoke some punk kid.

So if you dont street race then you would have just pulled of normally instead of racing. Open and shut case. Your gonna lose.

so, how are you going to prove you wouldn't have otherwise done it? just say you just happen to accept a challenge this one time and by coincidence it was an undercover cop. not exactly convincing.

it's entrapment the same way undercover cops posing as hookers or drug dealers is entrapment....

this is probably a dumb question, but ive seen 1 or 2 of those cops episodes with the undercover police officers a hookers or whatever, are those fake or do all the people they arrest just go free?

they're real bro... those people get booked and go to jail

i was using those as examples of how cops use entrapment-like tactics to get people

This new tactic for busting street racers is the same as undercover hookers, drug dealers, etc. It is legal because they make sure that the action is only minorly prevoked. Having the "hooker" out on the street in the red light district attracts the buyers. More often the uc will pose as the buyer rather than the seller, which has nothing to do with entraptment, and the same way the officer asks for drugs, he now revs his engines. You either sell drugs or you dont. You race or you dont. Now that i take a closer look i can see how its legitimate, but it sucks because it can happen to me. TIME TO GET A RADAR!
