Hey what does it mean to have your motor bored out, or bored? Is it a good mod or een worth the money?

It makes the displacement of the engine larger.

No offense but you should do some research. That mod is done further down the road for most people. Think about waht you want to do in the future. If you're going n/a then go for a bore. But you should get cai/header/catback first at least. Try the search button, all i gots to say

I have my car bored to 78mm as opposed to stock 75mm, the owner of the car before me, who is a good friend of mine did the work. I have no idea how much is costs but it does give a noticable difference in performance, i would go for some other mod if i was you tho.

You don't usually get a substantial amount of displacement from boring. But you do get nice perfectly round holes for your perfectly round new pistons. Better seal for the rings and the option of running more performance oriented pistons for higher compression.

I can't remember the equation. Is it Bore2 X Stroke X .7854 (????) X number of cylinders??? I gotta :google: that crap. I can't remember. If that's the number then you are pushing about 1.7 liters...did you just use stock D17 pistons? Something else? I was kinda curiuos about that because the D series cylinder liners are kinda' thin. But if it works that's cool.

you would have to stroke the motor also to get 1.8 liters. the formula for displacment is simply bore x stroke.

2 things, if the motor is really bored out, you have to have aftermarket pistons, or he lied to you. your stockers are 75mm wide, and if the cylinders are 78mm wide, theres no way your engine runs. and even with aftermarket pisons, its a really bad idea to boost an unsleeved motor because the d series sleeves are already weak enough, and boring them out weakened them more.

One millimeter is huge when boring an engine and if you bore too much you'll likely burn a hole in your engine. This modification is expensive and whether or not you should undertake it varies very much on the engine you have.
