hi i just bought a civic si 1994 the engine has 150000 kms on it everything runs fine exept when i start the car it revs at 1.5 rpm even in neutral i was wondering if anyone had an idea what it can be and also when my vtec kicks in theres a puff of oil burning out the exhaust i was wondering for that which seal or gasket i have to change cuz the car doesnt smoke oil till u floor the vtec is that just how vtec is ??

does it idle at 1.5rpms and slowley go down or stay up there? seems like an idle problem, mine does the same and once it gets warmed up after a few minutes to idles down at 500or so, if it dosent do that (if im not mistaken someone correct me if im wrong) there is an idle screw to change how high it idles not sure where it is but autozone has a haynes manual go buy one of those..they are a huge help

yeah thats exactly how it goes it slowly goes down to 500

idle at 1.5k on warm up is normal, also burning a little oil upon vtec engagement is also normal.. regrettably it is very very common.. when you see more then a little puff is when you are staring to have ring problems
