Brake light and steering noise :(

Okay, so when I am driving my red BRAKE light appears and disappears after a few seconds on its own, or dissappears when I apply pressure to the brake pedal (it seems to light up when I accelerate)... What is up with that exactly? Also, one day I started the car and noticed that my car started making a robotic kind of noise when I turned the wheel even slightly, if I was to type the noise it would look like this : reeeeeeeewwwwwrrrrr. < LOL I really dont know what the problem is with the steering because it was fine one day and the next day it started as soon as the car was turned on.

Any help is greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance guys! =)

About the break light.. Check your break fluid, its most likely low.

both look about half full, although there are no "min and max" markings on the resevoirs.

Just to be safe top it off and what I would do is buy some die from your auto parts store like a small 4$ bottle and add some to power steering fluid. Thats a start. But def. top it off first. Dont fill up the P.S.

check the switch down under your e-brake. if your e-brake is a bit loose, then it could be bouncing up and down, just a little bit, causing the light to come on and off.

I checked the P.S. fluid today again and realized me thinking it had some in it was an optical illusion of some sort cause when I put my finger in it , it was dry, how much should I put in there? Oh and matisgugle, I looked on the cap of the brake fluid reservoir and one of the sensor cables (im presuming they are sensor cables) had a bit of crap all over it, I cleaned it up and it doesn't seem to do it any more.

Yep you need to top off your fluids. The P/S reservoir has a max line... fill it to that. As for brake fluid won't hurt to top it off...

My 96 LX just started doing the same thing a couple of days ago.
When I turn the wheel to the right I get the noise and it stays for a bit.
I thought it was me brake pads worn down so I got some new ones but I will check me fluid lvls 1st before I attempt to install em.
New pads and tightening the E-brake cable fixed the brake light the last time it kept comming on.

If the engine is off, then it will be difficult to steer and the brakes are difficult because the band will not power steering is turning and the vacuum is fully utilized in the actuator.
