Break in... Before the tune

So from what I understand, I am supposed to pull the plugs on my car crank it over for a good 30 seconds, to get the oil pumping, then start it and run it for 5-10 minutes to seat the rings( reference to what I'm talking about -> http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=878397 ). Since my car has almost no management my 450's are just dumping fuel in the cylinders, so what I was wondering if I could, temporarily, put in my stock injectors to do this "break in" to avoid washing out the cylinders. As soon as this little break in is complete I will put the 450's back in and tow my car to the shop so it can be properly tuned this time. This will be my first motor that I have personally re-built and I fear my dads old school ways wont work which is way I'm asking for everyones insight on this. Thanks in advance to all that help.

rich washing could very well be a problem. injector swaps are pudding (easier than pie). honestly; if you haven't done anything to the internals that would totally whack your stock electronics, put them in and drive the thing. get a FULL break-in before tuning. drive it to the damn dyno. THEN switch over to the goodness.

THEN switch over to the goodness.
i've heard the complete opposite. i was told to get my car tuned/broken in on the dyno, all in one shot. the only difference internally that will affect the stock ecu would be the lower compression pistons, vitaras, but that should only make it run a little rich since its not a huge drop in compression.

i would be weary doing full power pulls on a FRESH build. in fact, when i had my gt-four tuned the shop made me sign a special waiver BECAUSE it was a fresh build. i opted to tune it enough to drive on it, and drove it for two days (~500 miles) before taking it back to do full-power runs.

Agreed.
Some may call it wasteful, but I'd also change the oil once after a rebuild - so in like 500 miles.

the critical break in of your motor occurs within miles and minutes, piston rings seat very fast, either they seat correctly or they dont and you wont have good ring seal which may not be an issue at first but will make itself very apparent in the future.

i started my car (after priming the oil pump) and ran it at 2k for 15 minutes...then shut it off and drained the oil. in your case i would strongly suggest you have a basemap made for your car with the injectors you are going to run.. this will make it so much easier and safer.
