So I have been planning to put a turbo kit on my car, and to be able to get it on sooner instead of later (this winter break) I think I will be going the really cheap route.
Here is what I want to have: ohh ya obd2 97 ex (d16y8)

Chipped ecu 145 uberdata with basemap for my setup p28 obd-1
injectors dsm 450cc 50 ebay
turbo (dsm) 200 14b most likely, but maybe some sort of t3 possible
fmic 150 johnnyracecar
bov 30 1g dsm prob, could be anything cheap that works
obd harness 83
oil lines 90
manifold 120
dp 100
guage pod bezel 30
boost gauge 45
a/f gauge 45
boost controller 15
vacuum lines 16
ic piping + connectors 100
wastegate 45
miscelaneous 40

$300 dyno tuned by pro, to about 10 psi

So that is what I want to have, but at first I want to go even cheaper, so i plan on going with a side mount intercooler, ghetto ic piping from home depot (prob dryer ducting, its aluminum flexible piping, can handle air up to 450 degrees, not sure about the pressure) (or some other ghetto cheap piping, like old intake piping) and just use the custom basemap without tuning, and just run somewhere around 3.6 or 5.8 psi. Then after about two or three months I would get a fmic and actual piping, and then get it tuned up to 8 or 10 psi.

So what do you guys think of this plan?
what do you think of the 14b turbo?

thanks guys

You need:

DSM resistor box
LSD
Clutch
Flywheel
Flexpipe
Oil Tap
Oil Pressure Gauge
EHT Gauge (just a personal preference)
Turbo Timer
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Fuel Pump
Wastegate

[
DSM resistor box going to wire inline resistors for each injector
LSD not gunna happen, or at least not for a long time
Clutch getting with new tranny a little while down the road
Flywheel getting that too later
Flexpipe will be apart of downpipe
Oil Tap comes with oil line kit (or if I figure out how to get the other parts besides the lines
Oil Pressure Gauge didnt plan on it, but I suppose its a good Idea.... stupid honda/no guage
EHT Gauge (just a personal preference) probaly not
Turbo Timer nope ill let the car cool down for a min or two after the turbo is worked hard
Fuel Pressure Regulator nope
Fuel Pump not at first with minimal boost... 8 psi prob not, what about 10???
Wastegate included with turbo, if not ill buy one

except for the fuel pressure regulator and the oil guage i have thought about all those things,
thank you for the constructive and helpful post, I appreciate it, do you think that oil pressure guage is nessicary?

wastegate is definitely included in DSM's.

no need for an LSD with a low boost setup.

clutch will be nice eventually, youll just have to accept the fact it will slip

no ss auto will be nearing my car anytime soon. But I might end up considering some other type of cheap manifold if I can get some good feedback on them... something like a noname ebay or obx.
I just want something that will let me keep my ac and ps.
anyone know what types of manifolds will let me keep my ac and ps?

if you're running a d, just use a Y7 manifold, and fab a plate to bolt onto the manifold and the turbo. cheapest, most reliable option.

never heard of using a y7 manifold, but if it'll work, go for it. an 88-91 hf or std will work great, and a cx will, also (adaptor plate needed for both)

y7 is just like an HF or STD.

a y7 can work just like a std, hf, or cx? Hmm, I'm surprised I haven't ever heard that before. You sure?
Thats cool, another option
