Hey guys I got a daily driver jdm d15b swap but im boosting it this summer. In preparation, im building the bottom end so it stays in tact for a (hopefully) hell of a long time.

(not sure what size turbo im going with, but i know im going for about 225+ whp (hopefully)) Just want something i can use as a daily driver but get on it when i want to without blowin it apart. :wizarddragon:

Most people always say buy this > http://fjdistributors.com/product_info.php?products_id=567

But im very iffy with the custom length rods. And will the vitara pistons hold well with 8-10 psi? It says up to 500 whp but my buddy said not to use anything but forged.

What crank? (forged)

a vitara build will hold more than 8-10 psi,
gotta find out what turbo/size you are going to use first

the stock block can hold close to 200hp..

I would add rod bolts

but the D15 is a great engine for boost!

Arp headstuds at least and rods if you want to be safe.

I'm going for Eagle rods, arp headstuds, and vitara pistons for my y8 when the time comes. Then doing some headwork. Crower stage 2 cam, AEM cam gear, Supertech springs and retainers.

Yeah but how are the FJr custom length I-beam rods? Are those even good? that's part of the package which is pretty good for everything it comes with. I just want to make sure those rods are going to be good or im just going to buy seperately I guess.

(thanks for all the input too!)

What turbo lol? There's a difference between 10 psi on a GT35R and a small dsm turbo.

OP: if you build the block then you can go for mad boost. i would recommend a .55 trim like this>
http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gosptubybupo.html
theres dyno sheet showing what this can do, and with a built block, 650cc, good tune, and you got one helluva pavement pounder.

guy on my other boards has a d16 on boost 18psi, people want to look at the engine and they all say they cant beleive they lost to such a small engine .
edit: .57 trim ^^
upgrade clutch and cooling system also

Also, if your not sure of the rods, look around.. theres deals all over on combos

I was thinking of building my own kit by putting stuff together when i find deals. Like i found a 225 lph Walbro fuel pump for like 40 bucks brand new and bought it, and got an ARK Rev limiter for 80.
I also wanted maybe a garrett turbo, but your saying a .57 trim would be good?

And when you say pavement pounder...haha...the reason i said i want only 8-10 psi is because i want it to last for a super long time. Not track racin i just want a fun as f**k dd.

For clutch i was thinking exedy stage 1-2 clutch (cant decide between the two) and a 7-8 lb flywheel.
Cooling system- aluminum radiator and maybe a go autoworks intercooler? (it was like $150 on their site)

go stage 2, you will get used to the power after the 2nd week, trust me on this. and it doesnt matter the PSI u push, Its all in the tune. 5 lbs or 15 lbs will be harmful if its not tuned correctly. So pick a HP/TQ goal and tune for that goal, not based on psi.

Anything autoworks is reliable and most likely warrantied. they take care of there customers after the sale.

.57 is a good broad power band for the smaller displacement. even a T3 super 60 is a great garrett for a D15

either super 60 .42/.48
or
garrett 50 trim
or
garrett .57
or bullseye .55

Heres a garrett turbo from go autoworks (t3 super 60) and its .42/.48. What turbine? 4 bolt 5 bolt? http://www.go-autoworks-store.com/gat3su60.html

Yeah hopefully garage 808 can tune my 8-10 psi really good, it would be so nice.

4 bolt or 5 doesnt matter. i would get the 4 bolt for easier and more room.

you want to tune for HP/TQ numbers, not on PSI
