Burning **** ton's of gas

So lately I have noticed my car is terrible on gas, I filled it up on Friday and I'm already on E after driving less than 100 miles, in conjuction to this I have noticed my tachometer spikes randomly and when doing so the car jerks softly, you can only feel this when sitting in the driver seat though (Not extremely noticble but the car seems to slug along) Also I idle really low at stop signs or stop lights and it almost feels like the car is going to shut off but it doesnt, About 4 months ago I had replaced the ignition coil, distributor cap, and spark plugs because they were going out, I don't know what it could be, any suggestions?!?!

Its a 1993 Civic ex with aftermarket headers, hks midpipe, and dc sport muffler, got aftermarket intake on it as well

I had this problem at one point with my 93 ex. Changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and was off time and after that it was back up to par.

I just got it looked at and they said it was the coil, I don't think it's a fuel problem anymore, I think that my guage cluster is f**ked up haha, anyways does anyone know if u can run a external coil in these?

look up msd blaster coils if you want to run an external coil you can
you can also keep the internal coil, but get an upgraded one, which is what i did
i would still check the timing on it, you didnt say if you changed the spark plug wires when you did the other things if you didnt id change that. change the fuel filter
what type of filter is on the intake if its a cheap no name one then i would change it to an aem, if it is a name brand just check and see if it needs cleaning.
personally i would do what i listed above and make sure it had a current oil change and clean the fuel system and see how the mpg is after all of that.

emerican, I have not changed the wires but I was playing on doing an entire MSD ignition system in it while I'm here, the oil filter was just replaced 20 days ago with a synthetic oil change the filter is a BOSCH, the fuel pump seems fine but ill look at the wednesday when I have time

whens the last time the fuel filter was changed?
and do you mean the msd external blaster coil setup?

Yeah I was gonna get that MSD coil, get the extreme cap and rotor, MSD wires, and get some gapped plugs, and I haven't touched the fuel filter since I bought it maybe 7-8 month's ago

my guages will randomly go out, and last night I ran out of gas, put a hlaf tank in it, 20 miles later on on the odo I only have a little less than a quarter less, could this all be just the coil?

what do you mean by gapped plugs all plugs are gapped
and i dont like the msd setup on civics personally
i am running the Accel super ingtion coil in my civic and i have a good bit of stuff done to my motor mod list in my signature and thats not even all of it and i am very happy with the coil. Its an upgrade from stock, but unlike the msd it dosent require extra things such as the specialy made cap and rotor kits you need to run an external coil. I also dont have to worry about the extra engine clutter.
If you feel like you have to upgrade the ignition personally i would do what i did. Accel super ignition coil, ngk iridum iv plugs gapped myself at correct size never trust that they are pre gapped check them yourself, ngk blues for wires, and i have the summit racing sport compact series of cap and rotor. Ive had a few of them and am very happy with them.
and i would change that fuel filter you dont know when the last time anybody changed it was
and also if you ran out of gas that means that it could have sucked up something out of the bottom of the tank and clogged the filter
i would change the filter and clean the entire fuel system along with the coil personally

Jeffbel, no i cannot
So today I was told by 2 different people that It could be something else other than the coil, I was told it could be the throttle body? It somewhat makes sense but it doenst explain the fact that my speedo randomly goes out

I was told it might be the map sensor, whats the VSS sensor?
Vehicle speed sensor. It's a sensor that plugs onto the top of the transmission case, and it has a little cylinder inside that spins with the trans to tell how fast the car is going. Its basically a speedometer cable.

ill check tomorrow but would that explain the car jerking and the fact that my car is pumping so much gas in the engine un regulated?

Here's a list of things to look at: fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, vss sensor, timing, distributor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, ecm. Other than that you have been told pretty much everything to look at. Go f**king google man because i just did and saw a s**t load of diagnoses for your problem man. Jesus...
