busted ring lands... own3d

just figured id share this with CC as well. well a buddy of mine layed down 310whp 230wtq with a boosted b18c1 (stock) @ 12 psi and a very conservative tune. well finally he started having smoking issues and sucked up a little water. we have a feeling this problem was started a little BEFORE the water and boost spiking issues. here are the results of this. we pulled the engine and took it apart and found something a little wrong. please note that all the busted ring lands are on the INTAKE side of the pistons. as well i am posting the stage 5 unsprung clutchmasters clutch he uses to show what it does to a stock flywheel and the pressure plate ;) . leave some feedback, thanks

those have definately seen better days, haha, but as for that clutch and flywheel looks like pretty normal wear and tear (from what i can see of the pics at least)

was the flywheel resurfaced before the clutch was installed?

LOL, wow, we JUST pulled teh pistons out a my spare DOHC ZC block and SAME thing on 3 of the 4 pistons.i think the guy ran too much boost on them.

the were also on the intake side only. thats supposed to be the thrust axis. amazing

after seeing someone blow up 3 d-series engine with MILD boost, ive decided against any D-series and most likely will pursue an H swap with some boost

ZCs are stong D series, im only goign with about 6 psi. KKK K26 turbo, external wastegate. Chipped ECU with turbo edit, 450cc injectors. DSM BOV, HKS turbotimer. and some other goodies.

those are some huge injectors for ur set up. but better to have too much then run 104% duty cycle i guess
:werd:

I don't know why everyone goes with huge injectors right away :???: I'm using 310's and I have my fuel maxed all the way down but then again I'm tunning with a safc2. It's better to run rich than lean I guess

yea but its also not good to run ur injectors above 90% duty cycle either. i suppose 25% duty cycle is better then 98% duty cycle tho

I bought an Alfa Romeo once for $500.

the #3 piston looked like that. It smoked like a b***h when it warmed up. Like SeaFoam X100. :rolf:

It wasn't from boost. It was from being Italian and poorly made LOL!

im using turbo edit so it will automaticly adjust idle and fuel maps for 450cc injecotrs, plus i got them for free. and i have a larger fuel rail.
